Bandages are soft wraps used on the horse’s legs for therapeutic purposes, for support, or to prevent and protect the horse from hurting its heels on the racing surface. The bandages are usually three to six inches wide and are made of various materials. These are the two most common types of bandages used:
a) Rundown bandages: This type of bandages are used during the race to avoid injuries.
b) Standing bandages: These are thick cotton bandages used either in the stall to prevent swellings and/or any kind of injuries, or during shipping.
